Re: Island Adventure: Abe & Sasha
Sasha's face tilted into webbed fingers, unafraid of different or slick, just wanting more of him in any way she could have him. What color he was, how unusual his scales felt, that didn't matter to her. She had fallen for him through words, his heart, the way he made her laugh, and all of that was the same no matter the outside. Of course, it was him calling her wonderful was what struck her as strange, in that way that spoke to how little people complimented her in her life. Then they were both swimming, blissful underwater in some perfect daydream that Sasha would be happy enough to live in forever. She felt him smile in her mind, that warmth spreading through every inch of her body, and while she didn't think that she deserved anyone to think of her as highly as he did, she couldn't help but smile in return, so happy that she could make him feel that way.
Then the rumble of rock on rock and rush of water filled the cave. "I don't know," Sasha sounded concerned, but unafraid. This hadn't happened last time, though now she wondered if she was only allowed to enter the one time. Or if she was being punished for taking that rattle. Something deep in the recesses of her mind understood that the Admiral cared nothing for this aspect of Ogun, only the healer. And if that were the case, wouldn't this one be able to get rid of the warrior? There was no time to debate. She and Abe could come back. Later. Not when the place was threatening to drown them. Well... her. If she drowned, the healer would show himself and the healer was welcome here. Abe would be pretty safe. For what it was worth, Agwe liked him just fine.
Sasha took his hand, wrapping her fingers tight around his and careful not to lace her fingers between which was her initial instinct. The tide swirled harder around them both, where once it was enough to wade through, now came up to their torsos. It pushed and shoved, almost impossible to walk against. Swimming was easier, but Sasha wasn't accustomed to such a strong current. "Abe, I-" He'd be able to feel her uncertainty, and that willingness to sacrifice for his safety mixed with a frantic need to survive so she could remain at his side. The current swept her feet out from under her and her words were cut off by a mouth full of salt water. If she didn't have such a fierce grip on his hand, she would have been lost and slammed into one of the boulders.
Once they would breach to where the sunlight could get to, the water would return to normal, perfectly calm. As though nothing was happening in the dark. It was just a matter of getting back into the light, and Sasha wasn't sure she was going to make it.
