Re: Float'n'boat! Nirvana & Kill the Crow
The constellation she pointed out was actually Pegasus, but horse was close enough. It's not like the stars created the wings or anything. Hell, the constellation didn't even have back legs. Bears were over in the north. Most of her star knowledge came from stories she'd spew when she was scamming someone out of money. Take a few nights to learn how to pick out certain constellations, then make up elaborate lies to keep her mark eating out of the palm of her hand. So when he offered up that little tidbit on Venus, she had to wonder for a hot second if he was doing the exact same thing. Only a hot second though, seeing that as soon as the thought was considered, it was laughed off just as quickly. There was no way he'd pull that off. "Tolpitzin?" Oh, she butchered that name. "Why'd they mourn him? I mean, obviously because he died, but what did he do? In life? Besides rule. What made him planet-worthy?" She wouldn't have asked if she wasn't interested, so he was right in that regard.
In spite of all the common misconceptions that everyone in town had about her, she didn't mind him disagreeing. Honestly, given their time together, she expected it. It didn't mean he was right, but his response wasn't exactly surprising. His smile was apology, and she waved it off with a warm grin of her own. "Don't stay long enough to become embedded." His words were repeated as though there was a lesson there, one already learned long ago but she never was able to get the grasp of. "Can one oyster make different color pearls at the same time?" Not about her, actually about pearls.
Newt? She'd seen the name on the forums. "I'm Sasha." Her eyes didn't skirt anything. She had always been bold with her eye-contact, and this morning was no different. He looked out of place in this town, and at the same time, she couldn't imagine him anywhere else. His accent painted him European, which kept her from assuming he was some weird hipster kid thanks to his outfit. "What we're going to find is adventure, Newt. Something new." Even if it was just the other side of the lake, it wasn't here, and wasn't that something special?
