Re: The Bar: several drinks in
Her quiet moment dancing against him made her smile, but then there was a stumble, a little stub of her big toe against his shoe, and his weight leaning heavy on her while he tried not to... fall over? He hadn't had that much to drink, had he? She pulled back with a blossoming frown on her face as she tried to figure out when the mood had changed. But before she could, he was starting to make excuses for an exit.
Sobriety was too easy to find again as everything she'd gained quickly unraveled again. There was no longer any trace of smile on her face, and she stood with socked feet frozen to the floor as her former leading man jittered his way through explanations and nerves. She couldn't even get a word in between his before he was practically running away from her, leaving her only with the view of his back. She stayed unmoving for a minute, wondering if he'd come back, and when he didn't, the realization washed over her like a slow tide. It started from the top of her skull and moved down, carrying an empty resignation along with it, and a little bit of nausea. Whatever was in her first drink was swept away, leaving her to be who she always was.
She took a detour back to the bar and managed to snag a bottle when the bartender wasn't looking, wandering back through the house and out the door to head home.
