Re: Antique Store: Louis and Daniel
It wasn't until then, just then, looking back at Daniel, that any of it felt real. The flared dark eyes were one thing, but the brief half-hidden peaks of additional teeth were something more concrete, something which couldn't be forgotten or explained. He might have made a mistake in being so flippant, or in letting other emotions race ahead of fear. Fear should have been at the top of his mind all the time.
It was a disconnect, no doubt - he couldn't willingly accept the idea that Daniel wanted him for something other than simply his body, when that was, in fact, precisely what he wanted. It was all a bit sad, and Daniel's cold stare reminded him that there was much more at stake here than his own bruised feelings. Why had he agreed to this? What had he been thinking? He felt Daniel pull away, release contact, and wondered why he bothered. He would think about it later.
Cold, wet breath. The hair on the back of his neck stood up, stupid and useless as a thousand other innate responses of a human being feeling like prey, and he didn't anticipate the bite before it came, after all that build, because it came so quickly. He made a short noise as Daniel tightened his bar across Louis' chest and bit down hard. Of course it hurt - of course it would, what had he been expecting? But he hadn't thought until now about how still he would need to be to avoid sharp teeth nicking something that wouldn't ever heal, and that only made him more tense, and the teeth in his neck sent a flush into his cheeks and bitter adrenaline coursing to his cells.
Relax. He did have to relax, and he needed to do it now. He stared up at the ceiling, felt the cold mouth on his skin and the contrasting warmth of his own blood, the teeth under his skin like broad needles, and tried counting backward from ten, because it was the first thing he could think of doing. He took a slow breath, and then he couldn't help it - adrenaline was giving way to a flood of endorphins to smother the pain, and he leaned into Daniel's unwavering grip.
