Re: [Woods: Patrick & Raven]
He was agitated. With the pacing and the scuffing of his feet, it was easy enough to tell that. She would have been able to tell even if she'd had the peculiar flatness of vision that came along with the rest of her avian self. He'd been relaxed enough when he dashed up, which left it being her that caused his agitation. And that wasn't a common response.
And then he snapped at her, and for some reason she understood every word of that. And that she did react to, eyebrows lifting and eyes widening, shoulders going stiffer before she frowned in response. Each shift of face and body was subtle, but more than any other she'd made thus far. And she finally made a sound. Not a word, no, but something from the back of her throat that was laced with offense-taken to that chastisement. She didn't quite think that anything about the situation required the sort of deep thinking that would be distracted by her nodding answers to his questions.
And then he asked more, and what did he expect? For her not to answer because it would "distract" him? She was following him easier now, moments in his presence making him easier for her to understand, even when his words and movements were quick. And it was obvious that he was planning to contact someone else. She knew "police", and wanted nothing to do with them - that way lay bars and cages, she remembered. And even his sister... no. She wasn't ready yet. She shook her head sharply, once, when she was sure he would see it, brows pulled down enough that a crease formed between them.
