[Woods: Patrick & Raven]
He half expected to miss her. Not that he didn't trust his awesome tracking abilities, because he did trust his awesome tracking abilities. Patrick had been wandering these woods since he was a kid. When he failed at some scientific amazingness, when his brainpower turned out to be too subpar for Webster to tolerate, Patrick came here. He knew how to track, how to camp, how to hike. If it happened out here, man, Patrick had it down. It wasn't that he didn't trust his ability to catch her, but part of him was enormously sure she wasn't human, and he couldn't be blamed for failure in the face of supernatural epicness.
TL;DR: Patrick wasn't sure he would be able to catch up with the elusive lady.
But there she was, and it took him a few extra seconds to skid to a halt. The mostly-dead grass crunched beneath his feet, and he had to recenter his bodyweight to keep from teetering. All right, that was a huge failboat when it came to cool approaches. Danny Zuko would be heinously disappointed, dude, but Patrick straightened and gave her that Gunster smile. The Gunster smile, man, it was a wonder drug. If life was a cartoon, the Gunster smile would come with a little tooth glint.
"Hey," as if he hadn't just skidded to a running halt in front of her, dude. As if it wasn't glaringly obvious he'd been chasing her. "All right, I get this looks weird, but I'm not a stalker, dude." He raised his hands in surrender. "You have my word, lady, I'm harmless. I was raised by my older sister, and I know running after a woman is exceptionally uncool in a society where men leverage entirely gross power." He lowered his hands. "I'm Patrick. I work here." He pointed back at the lookout, and he managed to do that without having to look and ensure he had the direction right. Score. Okay, one thing had gone right, and shit would start rolling awesome soon. He would roll natural 20s for the remainder of this encounter.
