What came wasn't good. It was as if she'd been steady long enough, rooted in good things long enough, that the world required a shift to maintain an equilibrium. Even if that equilibrium was for her to be out of balance again. Or at least more focused on the darker and more damaged parts of herself and her life.
And that focus kept her from being able to actually listen to the things Manning was saying to her. Though the feel of his fingers pressing into her flesh at least kept her from spinning off too much into her own thoughts as she so often used to.
"I mean... it would be fair if she found a way to. As much as I destroyed hers." Her body trembled though, because she knew, without any doubt, that one of the easiest ways to destroy the life she'd been building would be to hurt him or TJ. Or... the baby.
