"You always worry." Absolutes in the form of never and always fell infrequently from his lips, but he knew when they were true. She was the worrier between the two of them, but he felt that grin in the curve of her cheeks against his shoulder. "No one would care there," he confirmed. "But would you like it better in the city?" Manning didn't think so, but that might have been his own bias. He'd seen cities risen, seen them fall and been razed - the country was his favorite by far.
He breathed in, and kept his face pressed into the top of her head as he listened. "Because of what happened in the past between you two?"His head tilted, cheek moving to be the point of contact between them. "You're allowed to feel something. Acting on it is, always, up to you. But you're allowed to feel anything you want. No matter who calls it wrong."
