Re: Home: Iris and Manning
It was more than cliche to even think it, but the grin that spread across his face was like sunshine. It warmed her to the core, and even helped chase away some of the shadowy worries that she still had. They'd likely return, and she'd continue to need at least some reassurance that this was the right thing to do, but looking at him smiling like that was enough in the moment. She smiled in return, ducking her head to lean close to him again and laughing quietly against the side of his neck. It wasn't in response to anything funny, but just a release of too much emotion. There was the prickling of tears at the corner of her eyes too - too much emotion with nowhere else to go.
But he was laughing too, a chuckle that echoed in his chest, and she thought she could probably live in the moment forever. Or at least for a very long time. Maybe as long as he'd already been alive, though that wasn't even possible. But laying together, both of them laughing while he held her close and spread his hand across her belly... she wanted to keep that feeling.
"Day after tomorrow. I know it's short notice, but I checked your schedule..." As long as he hadn't added any appointments, there wouldn't be a conflict. She was almost a little disappointed too that he moved his hand, but it meant that they were able to press closer against each other again. And then he asked what she'd been thinking about already. And she wanted to tell TJ, but... just in case... "Maybe after the appointment? She'll be at daycare, and..." She was certain not to look up at him for a moment. "Just in case anything looks wrong..."
