Re: Home: Iris and Manning
As afternoon naps always did, she was disoriented when she climbed back up from sleep, not knowing the time or even the day. She could place dogs at her feet though, recognized their solid warmth, and the touch at her hip quickly made sense at the low voice that accompanied it. The one that made her smile, even if her eyes weren't even open yet. "...Hey," she returned in a whisper.
The smile stayed and was joined by a content sigh when he laid down and moved close, warm against her. She liked curling up on top of him, her head on his shoulder and leg tucked over his, but she liked this even more. She felt safe with him at her back, there to protect her from anything. There to keep her warm. And with the thought of warmth, she reached one arm down to snag the throw blanket and shift it back toward him as best she could (even though the weight of a grumbly dog - she couldn't tell which - kept it mostly pinned down). She gave up with another little sigh and found his arm with her hand as she settled back in. She pulled it over her waist and brought his hand up, kissing one of his knuckles before tucking his arm over her and letting it go.
"Time 's it?" She leaned back into his chest so that she could feel the rise and fall of it against her back.
