Re: [Capital: Gwen & Flash]
Gwen always had a desire to unravel things and understand them, but Flash always reacted super badly to her questioning, especially when it came to personal matters. She clearly remembered their last big fight (on a blanket in the woods), which had been caused by her questioning. Ergo, she had tried to alter her approach to things. It meant she had a lot of unanswered questions, which was a super large challenge for her, but she also didn't want him to stop smiling at her. She kind of knew that if she started asking things, he would totally stop smiling. So, she just kissed him, and she wanted him to feel better. She knew she couldn't solve the problems that plagued him (which was hard for her to accept), but she could (at least) strive not to make them worse. Was this a bad way of dealing with a relationship? Probably, but she was totally unaware.
He sputtered, and she smiled more. She was a little dazed by the super awful beer, and she grinned at him as if there were no cares whatsoever in the entire world. "I am not corny. I have a highly developed sense of humor," she countered, and she wasn't sure how she felt about being blogged about. "I'm not sure people blog about cats being rescued from trees, but that's okay. We make a good team. I'll save kittens, and you'll totally save the world." Gwen knew her labwork was more impressive than anything she would manage in a suit, but she still wanted to try.
She closed seafoam eyes for a second at the side-hug, and then she looked over at him, chin tipped up so she could see his face better. "You're a much bigger hero than anyone I know, Flash Madison," she vowed earnestly, and she wasn't even exaggerating for his benefit. She rubbed her cheek against his shoulder, and she was quiet for the next few dark turns. Beyond the bright scents and noise of the food area, the arches and hallways were dark. They were lit here and there by trashcan fires and torches, and there were groups from every "gang" hovering.
Quietly. "We're authorized to spend a certain amount of money for the device, if it exists. If they won't take the deal, we're authorized to confiscate it," she told him quietly, before telling the man that stopped them what they were looking for. The man, young, 20s and with a scar marring one cheek, waved them on (while looking totally entertained that they were venturing where they were venturing).
