Re: [Capital: Gwen & Flash]
"You're totally a bad influence," she said about the language, her arms already around his waist. It was easy, joking back, and she maybe breathed easier as a result. She really, really didn't want to mess things up like she had on the forums, but it was super hard to have confidence in her ability not to do that when she didn't understand the errors in the first place. She tried to rub her cheek against his back, but the helmet made it kind of hard, and she was surprised to hear herself laugh at her own imagining of how stupid she must look. But it was okay, and he brushed his fingers against her hand, and she held on tighter. She reasoned there was a logical excuse (safety) for the increase in pressure around his midsection.
"You got that nickname a super long time ago. Let's see if you can still live up to it." Which was irresponsible, but she so didn't care. The island had been awful, and everything since Harry lost his mind had been a mess, and she had no idea where she stood with anything, so she thought a little bit of irresponsibility was totally appropriate. And he did drive fast. He drove fast enough that when she held on tighter, it was totally out of necessity. It was thrilling in a really unexpected way, the effect of speed and the motorcycle. Daringly, she even let go a little every once in awhile, until she lifted her arms up entirely and laughed as he blocked her from the buffeting wind with her body. She almost yelled, just for the pleasure of it.
No, in the end, she did laugh, just for the pleasure of it. It wasn't a scared yell. It was more a liberating kind of sream, and she inhaled super deep after. The Capital's lights were visible now, and it did look like that place she'd been to for the legal proceedings that had declared her to be a dead girl. "It looks like home, doesn't it?" she asked, turning her hand over to touch his fingers super briefly. "I liked it there when I visited. It felt weird and right, but like something way new. It's super pretty at night." Gwen wasn't particularly fond of Repose's topography, but she did like how the buildings in the Capital climbed up into the darkness. "I'm glad we came too." Maybe, just maybe, everyone didn't deal with bad stuff in the same way.
"Do I know where the entrance to Second City is?" Her eyeroll, while not visible, was certainly audible. She didn't even need to pull her tablet out of her messenger bag, because she'd memorized the details. "Next left, second right, third left. We'll have to park there and walk to the docks, then scale down. There's supposed to be a good drop point about a quarter block east. Then, we just follow the waterline to the lit entrance. We can't miss it."
