[Ice Cream: Cat & Steph]
[Cat couldn't remember ever having gone to an ice cream shoppe. In the entirety of her life, both young and old, it was something she couldn't recall ever happening. That explained the suggestion, of course, because she was trying to live outside the box that had been created for her ages ago. Oh, this wasn't a girl aged down and unknowing. This was a woman, one who knew precisely where the world would lead her, and she was reluctant to go without clawing and biting. And, so, ice cream.
And, truthfully, she did want to see Stephanie. She hadn't seen the blonde since Stephanie had returned, and Cat still counted Stephanie as one of her oldest and dearest friends. Stephanie could see through the bullshit, and the number of people in Cat's life who could claim that? Were few and far between, and she remembered a time when it wasn't so easy to pull the wool over everyone's collective eyes. Oh, there were exceptions, because there would always be exceptions. But Stephanie, like Eddie, was an exception without ulterior motive. Cat loved her for that.
It was cool out, but nothing compared to the Jersey chill that could eat through fabric and skin alike. It was a bright evening, no clouds and no rain, and it was that type of chill that felt like Spring might come soon. Here, Spring was green and pretty, where it had simply been another label worn by sooty skies at home. Cat stood, still dressed as she had been earlier in the day. She leaned against the side of the building, and she texted Stephanie:] Here.
