Re: Call: Iris / Manning
Yes. [She's still working, the sound of it still filtering over the line.] He said something about a tea shop and online reviews. [Pause. Softer.] He was yelling, so it was a little hard to follow. Something about losing business and money and fighting back. [The slam of a ball of dough on the kneading table.] But I haven't noticed any loss. We're still selling all the same amounts! [Frustrated, and slowly working into a rant. They don't happen often. He has the "privilege" of being one of the only people to currently witness them.]
But no, [Slam of dough.] he's going to lose money, so I have to work harder. [Slam.] And he fired Dylan, so now it's just me again. And maybe that was fine before, but [Slam.] now I've got you and TJ, and I'm not going to wake up before the sun just because [Slam.] some tea shop is selling pastries and posting stuff online. [Slam. Slam. Louder.] I don't even make pastries! It's bread! And muffins! [Slam.] Stupid... banana muffins that make me want to vomit all over everything because they smell so disgusting lately. But god forbid he listen when I tell him the new ones are selling just fine. People like the change... [She finally trails off and stops, her hands on the edge of the table. He can hear her breathing, trying to calm down.]
