quicklog: steph/eddie -- carnival
[Eddie found it strange being on the grounds of the carnival. He had put so much of his heart into this place over the year, only to find that it was merely another colorful tower to hide in. The arcade was easier. Smaller. He couldn't get lost in machines that he knew backwards and forwards. He couldn't stay in the neon glow for more than a day without feeling like he was traveling back in time. It was good for him and the carnival? He mostly had bad memories attached to it. Trying to make something work that just didn't. Not while his heart was buried under the muck of New Jersey.
But, Stephanie was here. For the third or forth time, and he wanted to give this whole thing another shot. He would worry it wasn't the right choice if it wasn't what his heart wanted. Life without Stephanie in Repose brought him lower than he ever remembered feeling. Not even the crazy houses and dark prisons made him feel as twisted up and broken inside as Repose did. And, it wasn't the town or even the people in it, it was him. Trying to move on when there was so much left unsaid, unfixed.
His time in New Jersey with Stephanie made him feel free of that. Why wouldn't he give this a shot if it felt good?
Eddie was dressed in his blue suit with the black tie and a little golden flair. When he arrived at the carnival, his entrance fee was waved off by one of his clowns and he assured them they had a place at the arcade if the carnival ever got too boring. He trekked up to where they were to meet and he gave Stephanie a wave before running his fingers through his hair.]
I heard there's an awful magician here. [He loved bad magic as much as the next con artist.]
