Re: [Gunster Dinner]
"I don't know how it happened." Connie knew that a scientist's favorite and least favorite phrase was: I don't know. I don't know lead to amazing experiments, but it also could have been the bookend of failure. I don't know. What a terrible and beautiful phrase to utter. "My work is his work." Connie said, trying to hide a small swell of pride in her chest as she admitted it. She hated that she was the one given this burden of responsibility for the family and the family's work. But...at the same time. Well, she was sitting at the head of the table, wasn't she? And, between the two boys, she called Webster dad. Sometimes Pat did it, but it was usually just to echo her. Webster was rarely a father to Patrick, never one to Adrian- but he was always one to Connie. That's why he chose her. She was sure of it.
"The government is excited and interested in my father's work for obvious reasons. I've sold my soul to do what I love. To figure this whole thing out. So far I've had some really great results, but I haven't been able to find him yet or go back in time at all. I can only go forward." She smiled with a sad kind of nod because that was just how things were. Connie giggled at Adrian's comment and nodded again. "Tell us what you're passionate about these days, Adrian."
