Re: [Gunster Dinner]
Adrian chose not to underestimate Patrick as much as he underestimated himself. As such, he was genuinely surprised when Patrick got up and went into the kitchen. Even the wink couldn't make him feel as if he hadn't brought up a somehow inappropriate subject, and his eyes flickered with what did I say? as Patrick wolfed down his food and slipped away.
He picked up another bite of food, trying to refocus his attention on his meal. That, at least, was a part of the evening he could complete without awkwardness or failure. He had mastered eating. He was fairly confident, anyway.
"Time machines." At least this topic gave him more than enough to chew on. He absorbed the idea, and thought of timeturners, of the many kinds of magic that would have made their father's studies easier. Would he have thought of that as cheating? He didn't sense a thing in the room, not being attuned to it, but his curiosity obviously sharpened. "Where would he be lost?"
