Re: [Gunster Dinner]
Connie wasn't happy that Patrick was so quick to leave the table during science talk. She wasn't surprised either, though. Patrick thought he was a squib and it was rude to talk about magic in front of them, right? But, this was family business and Adrian was old enough now that he deserved to know about his dad. And, there was no mistaking that Webster was his father. Sometimes Connie looked up at Adrian and she could swear she could see her dad grinning back at her.
Patrick went to do the dishes and Connie sat back in her chair, looking down at her beer. Could she tell him what they were meant to do? Well, after her conversation with Newt about his magical sounding school, Connie figured Adrian knew something about weird. She inhaled and nodded.
"He was working on time machines." Connie took a sip of beer. Every time she told anyone about the machines (INCLUDING THE FUCKING GOVERNMENT) they never really knew how to react. It made her feel like Doc Brown trying to get McFly in the car. "And his research was a success." She closed her eyes and shook her head because she had promised herself she wasn't going to give so much detail. But Adrian was family and the Gunsters needed to be on the same page.
"That's why he's not here anymore." Connie opened her eyes and smiled at Adrian. The boys probably couldn't feel it, but Connie almost sensed the presence of their dad for a moment. Like a breeze under the door. "The machines got out of hand and I think he got lost somewhere. Or died." She always threw in the death thing to give people peace of mind.
