Re: [Gunster Dinner]
Adrian had decided that getting winks from Patrick was a good thing, so he accepted it, and, after a moment, winked back, his mouth twisted in amusement at this weird tete-a-tete they were having. It was a brief moment of spontaneity for someone who seemed to think through every word he said before saying it. "Calling your life 'common' feels a little 19th century," he added.
He worked at his food while Connie extolled the virtues of Felicity. The name ought to do it for her, really. "Yes, call her," he recommended, eyes wide an insistent over his plate of food.
It was easier to fall in with the two of them than he expected. They seemed to have a knack for drawing people out with sheer force of will, and Adrian just liked watching the two of them go back and forth. When Connie began talking about the machines, the way he listened changed - casual appreciation slid slowly into a real, appraising look, sharp eyes and a keen interest. "I fully understand that," he said. "Can you tell me what they were meant to do?" He smiled, faintly. "She said he was a brilliant man, and that his inventions would change reality as we know it. That's all I know."
