I mean, it's one thing to put someone in harm's way when they're oblivious to being there. They're in love, they're committed, they don't know who it is they're in love with. You're presenting your better self to them. I think - although I have no experience of it, so this may just be complete bullshit - if he knows, then even if he's in harm's way, you can be confident he loves you. It doesn't limit the danger. It just means he's not going anywhere.
