Re: [Return letter: Atticus]
[This letter takes longer. Reading the book.]
Daniel,
“The way I see it, every time a man gets up in the morning he starts his life over. Sure, the bills are there to pay, and the job is there to do, but you don't have to stay in a pattern. You can always start over, saddle a fresh horse and take another trail.”
Not sure I believe that. Liked the book, but L'Amour likes to make grand statements like the above. Your past follows you. Maybe not true when this book was written, but is true now. There's no fresh slate. No clean start. Still, good story about a man who doubted the events surrounding his father's death. Was a nice break from the Faulkner I'm working through. You won't read it, but including it anyway. [And he does.]
Hoarding power is easier said than done. Don't know how. They didn't come with a manual. Am working on getting the girl to do things for me. It's going well, but she's easier than the other two.
They're writers. Am trying to increase your literary range. Am an academic. As a rule, I like books more than people. Can't say I've ever attempted to make a person jealous in my life. Don't intend to start now.
Didn't remove anyone from the B&B, the inn as you called it. That isn't an invitation to go there and feast. Removed myself, but not for the reasons you might think. Need to get the haunts under control. Can't do that there. Too many ghosts tethered to the property. Also, needed quiet. Didn't want to be around people. Still don't.
Connie isn't my daughter, but that's a technicality. My closest friend is a werewolf. Trying to convince her you don't need to be eaten.
The neighborhood remains unchanged. Repose is, as you know, a hotbed of supernatural activity paired with willful ignorance. Has the same charms it always has, but you know that. Aren't far, are you?
