Abe laughed and wondered if he was secretly about the same age as her. Just because he woke up a fishman ten years ago didn't mean he was actually ten. In fact, that wouldn't make sense. Abe always assumed that he was cast out of some underwater society since that was how fairy tales and tragedies went. When he looked in the mirror while in his human form, he didn't recognize the man looking back. So, that likely was never part of the equation until the witch helped him.
He gave a playful ow at the poke and grinned at her. She was more than nice enough, as far as he was concerned. Still, she was easy to get a rise out of and Abe liked to tease if he could get away with it. He waved his hands in front of his face, as if to say he didn't want anything to do with poking in brains anymore.
"I'm a lot better about it." Abe protested. "I haven't dug into any- actually that's not true. There was one woman, but she looked distressed!" Abe gave a defeated shrug. "It's to help people. Aren't you glad you got a fish out of it in the end?"
