Briar and Abe; Carnival/outskirts
Abe had finished his set of performances (which usually boiled down to simply sitting in his tank and waving at guests) and was now walking around the carnival like a regular human being. He enjoyed this time the most and surprisingly enough it had nothing to do with being completely human. No, Abe preferred his fishy form, but as a human no one even noticed him. He could watch people, see how other acts were doing and walk without losing his breath and potentially dying.
He was dressed casually, a big warm jacket, scarf and a beanie since he was feeling especially cold that evening. There was a heater in his tank, thank goodness, but it wasn't enough to completely keep the cold out and by the end of each show, he found himself shivering like a small child who accidentally took a dive in a frozen lake.
Ah! Hot chocolate!
That was a clever idea. Nothing like warming ones insides so the outsides get the memo. He walked over to get himself a particularly large one and then started to wander towards the edge of the grounds. It was then that he saw a familiar form (the one and only Briar) and he waved a long arm awkwardly to get her attention.
"Come to see the show? Do you want some of my hot cocoa?" He called to her and then walked in her direction until he didn't have to shout anymore. "Winter looks good on you." Abe said with a nod. "Meanwhile, I'm thinking about jumping into the lake and freezing for the season like the rest of the fish. You can come thaw me out in April."
