Re: Train tracks: Oliver & Gwen
Tangible. Quantified. Oliver thought that he knew what those words meant, but it wasn't the kind of surety that he'd bet his life on. Things you can be sure of was equally vague, and Oliver thought that it took a special kind of person to be certain about anything. Gwen said that she was sure of germs, and Oliver looked at her with sad blue eyes Pacific-deep. Germs seemed like a terrible thing to be sure of when Oliver was sure of colors.
I'm sure we're dying, and Oliver raised a brow. He didn't understand enough about science to know if that was true, but it seemed impossible. It didn't seem logical, but Oliver wasn't especially logical himself, so what did he know. Mostly, there was a deep seeded concern about being wrong that kept him from voicing these questions.
"Yes," he told her when she asked if she looked sick. No sympathy there, just honesty and blue eyes that sat underneath eyebrows pinched a touch tighter by contemplation.
