Re: Crust & Crumb - Bruce / Iris
Iris moved smoothly around the space behind the counter, obviously comfortable in the space, familiar. It wasn't more than a few minutes before she was laying a white pastry box on the counter in front of him, and taking the money once she'd given him the total. The register printed out noisily on a register tape, feeding forward with each line before she reached over to write in a notebook what she'd actually sold, tallies and messy notes already there to indicate the days sales. Had he paid with credit, there was a separate swipe station off to the side, one hooked into the phoneline of the shop.
"Iris," she offered after a second, nodding and giving him another soft smile. Most people in town already knew her name, anyway. "You're welcome. I hope you enjoy it." She gestured at the box. "Enough to come back to try something else, at least." And she gave one last nod. Figuring that they were coming to the end of their interaction.
