Re: log: briar/jason
Goddamn. Briar was proud of herself at not jumping when the voice came from over head even as she let out a string of curses in her head. If she jumped, hands clenching on or dropping whatever she had in hands every time someone startled her she'd be out of limbs by now.
See. This is what she gets for being so goddamn social, her face is apparently too memorable. Maybe she needed lackeys. Minions to run and work with customers for her so she could be Mysterious and unrecognizable, but then that would cut off unexpected encounters like the one with Cat.
It would also stop her from being argue with customers who didn't understand how anything worked, which is not something she would be able to refrain from unfortunately. So these sorts of things were just going to be unavoidable, unless she herself got meaner and more enthusiastic about setting up traps for distorted voices in the dark.
Briar stood, pulled her chair back from the building a few feet and swung it around so she could straddle it and look up at him easier. Take away a bit of his advantage of causing her discomfort and make whatever this was more relaxing. Unurprisingly, this was not the first time she had been in this sort of situation,"It is. I'd offer to a bit but it might be difficult with all the," She gestured her face with a grin. He was also afraid of cooties, obviously being the melodramatic type.
It didn't even occur to her to try for denial, they were already well past that point and she had never played coy well. Besides, he hadn't come by in a proper uniform and patrol car, he wasn't law enforcement looking to do things by the book. It put them on a more level playing field than he realized, it was something she could work with better than bribing. Or just moving to a new location. Or conveniently blowing up the place with the detective. That one had gotten out of hand.
"You know I make other things as well, I'm very talented." Like Cat's order, sitting shiny among Briar's normal jewelry on her desk waiting for her Adorable Boy to come by.
