Re: Capital Rooftops: Cat & Sasha
Sasha couldn't understand things with Cat and Bruce. She'd never had that sort of relationship with anyone. Hell, Sasha wasn't even sure if she was able to. Some may say it's because of where they were from, where love was far from storybook definition and reduced to individual nights that never promised to see morning. Where gritty darkness and the taste of gunfire tainted stolen rooftop kisses, and Carpe Noctem was a way of life instead of a slogan on some cheap Hot Topic shirt. Where twenty years together, even off and on, was entirely unheard of, and twenty days was more than most people got. No, Sasha held little comprehension for the type of love that lasted decades. Pain, hurt, loneliness, abandonment? That was much easier to fathom. "Compared to any other man in the world that would jump at an offer to Netflix and Chill with you? It may not be thrilling, but I'd still like to see it."
Cat's reassurance that she was content drew a skeptical glance in return, but as she mentioned drowning, well that was something Sasha understood. Cat got an understanding nod from Sasha before she sighed and dropped her gaze, staring down at the people moving beneath them. "I get it. I do. And I'll get there too, Cat. One day. When I figure out what the hell I want. It's good here. It's quiet. The people are... weird, but not in a bad way. It's different. I need time to adjust. I promise, when I know what will make me happy, you'll be the first to know."
If Cat hadn't been her sister, Sasha would have been so tempted to yank that phone out of her hand and make a run for it. As it was, she just stared at the screen, green eyes lit up with interest at the program but also with that need for the car that she was showing her. "That's the one." And with that affirmation, Sasha stood up, dusting city grime off black leggings. "Let's show this town how it's done." She grinned over at Cat, all smugness and excitement, then waved her hand with a flourish, "After you." Because Sasha had no idea which way to go.
