Re: Capital Rooftops: Cat & Sasha
Oh, she wanted to ask if Bruce even knew what fun was, but that bitter tone easily keyed Sasha in to maybe not getting into that. "He will." She was certain about that. She wasn't so certain about how long it would take, but after twenty years, Sasha figured they couldn't stay apart for much longer. Or maybe Bruce didn't want to mess up whatever was going on with Cat and Reece? If he'd been alive the whole time but went to Eddie, maybe Bruce saw she had a chance to be happy. Or maybe she gave that stupid man too much credit. "How does anyone these days not know what Netflix is? You can get it on your phone! I will totally take that bet." Sasha grinned once more.
"Cat, it's been a couple of months since I left. Only a couple of months. Your 'once upon a time' is still painfully fresh for me and very 'once upon right now'." As if that was supposed to explain everything. It didn't explain anything. "I had to give them everything I had to get out. I have nothing left. I don't even have a computer. I'm lucky to have my phone. They wanted to take that, too." Out of anyone, Cat would know how greedy and demanding certain crime families could be, and Sasha was lucky they didn't remove her head for messing up that last deal. All they took was everything else that made up her life. What was left fit in a suitcase that was only slightly larger than a carry-on, and the car she had won off of that guy in Philly when she was on her way out of Jersey.
There was a freedom that came with having so little, the ease of being able to just up and leave to go where ever, that was enthralling. Being somewhere permanently? That was suffocating. She was made to wander, and if a certain crooning Jersey boy was to be believed, Sasha was born to run.
At least, she liked to believe that. It was easier than admitting she felt like she was dying inside.
"Getting into that facility isn't going to be easy. And I feel like I ruined that for you, Cat." She wasn't going to go into it anymore, since Cat was moving forward, but Sasha knew that she had seriously messed up Cat's plan. It made her feel wretched, and had kept her from even wanting to associate with her former fake boyfriend. Dying inside aside, Sasha was a survivor. She may have been floundering and nearly pulled underwater by the current that was her old dangerous life, but Repose, with Cat and Eddie here, was a lifesaver in rough oceans. No matter how temporary it may be. "I'm not happy. I'm terrified. I don't know what to do. I'm just trying to figure out what's next. To make a plan. I don't know how much meddling is going to fix that. I think I have to figure this out on my own."
Sasha perched herself up on her elbows and grinned in spite of the painful truth that had poured out of her, "But I have figured out that I need a Jeep Wrangler. Cherry red. The Bug is going to die soon. I've had to reattach the steering wheel twice already." There were a couple of days there that she had been using pliers to drive around. Yeah. It was super fun. "There's probably a gambling den I can work over somewhere in this city. Just need to get an invitation. I may need a night or two off."
