Re: Behind the bar: Cat/Reece
And when you're no longer a good asset? [Reece had an idea of what that would mean, but he asked. He didn't know about Cat's father, obviously—or hadn't, until now—but, like all the newly revealed details of the night, it wasn't unbelievable. In fact, it all made sense, which was probably the craziest thing about it all.] Is he dead? "Was a crime boss." [There was something about Cat's earnestness, rare as it was, that made Reece smile. Even her being quick to recover from that faux pas had some kind of endearment.] What does your team do? I mean, I'm not trying to make amends, but I do like making money... Reece laughed/scoffed when Cat talked about Bruce's beautiful woman.] That is surprising, actually. You seem like jealous woman~ [He grinned.] But, really, it's good, right? You're... uh, over... him or whatever. Probably. Right? [His tone shifted a little to reluctancy when talking about Tethys.] I mean, losing friends and losing friends. People disappear and it's just a thing. There's a reason no one cared about me.
[But, it was hard to stay serious. Especially when she was throwing a pillow at his head that he heard, but did not recognize, and did not see coming.] Oof! [It hit him in the face, but he caught it and hugged it to his chest, bringing up his knees. His hair was still wet, but drying, and he didn't want to ruin the nice pillowcase. Which, yes, he actually thought about because he wasn't totally heartless. At least not about expensive linens.] You could throw me. But, I'm not doing anything, am I? I'm not even letting myself see in the dark, so...
