Re: May's Cottage: May L / Gwen R
"Science doesn't require belief," Gwen reiterated. "If it does, then it's not science, ma'am." Gwen was becoming super aware that she lived in Faith Central. Everyone here believed in things without proof, and Gwen couldn't imagine doing that.
When the woman discounted the test, Gwen was way surprised. She just stared at the other woman for a few seconds, mouth slightly open and with serious concern. "It wasn't an experiment on evil. I was merely utilizing it to indicate that evil isn't something that exists in a measurable way, not how you're saying, because we all have the ability to do things that would be considered evil. Ergo, gender and age are unimportant, because they don't apply to the statement I'm making. Also, variations would make these results unusable. You have to test like things if your goal is comparison, ma'am."
Gwen thought this woman kind of didn't listen well, but she was learning that was the case with a lot of people who had preconceived notions about things. Decided, she scooped up her slides, and she tucked them into her messenger bag, and she nudged her teacup away. "Thank you for the tea and the conversation. I think I better go before the argument becomes worse. It always does with conversations like this," she explained, and she was kind of too upset to argue much longer without breaking into tears (which she knew was totally stupid).
She stood. "It's not you, ma'am. Most people around here believe like you do. It's one of the many reasons I really don't belong out here. Good luck with your garden."
