Re: May's Cottage: May L / Gwen R
Gwen was making a general comment about tea, not about May's tea, but she didn't understand that she was being misconstrued. That would require more understanding of people than she had, and she was accustomed to a small circle of people who recognized her relative newness to the world, and who tended to react accordingly, so it didn't even occur to Gwen to apologize or clarify her meaning. In her mind, she was simply stating that green tea was good for the human body, and that statement stood alone.
But (even with her limited exposure to varied people) she understood that the woman didn't like the slides. Body language was something the League had taught her early on, and that lean away from the slides was telling. "You don't need to worry. They don't have any effect anymore, and that's what I don't understand. That isn't how toxins work in nature. Even if the flowers were no longer affecting people, they should still have some indication of their prior properties visible in their cellular structure, and they don't. The only exceptional thing about them is they bloomed out of season, but they're perfectly normal otherwise. They won't negatively affect you in any way."
Gwen was absolutely sure of that; she'd been working with the flowers for days now.
"I want to know how magic makes the flowers do what they did. I want to know about magic. Before these flowers, I totally didn't believe in it, and now I do, and I think it could be beneficial given certain situations I find myself in. But I need to understand how to make it work first." Gwen believed (strongly) that she could learn how to do absolutely anything, and that it would only require effort.
