Re: May's Cottage: May L / Gwen R
Gwen wasn't sure what she was expecting to find in the strange house in the woods, but she reasoned that a woman tending flowers was an appropriate inhabitant for such a location. The house was super fairy tales (though Gwen had only skimmed through the ones the League had provided her with in the early days). But this house felt like the kind of place that a heroine might stumble upon. She didn't have any proof or corroborating data that indicated the gray-haired woman wasn't a threat, but Gwen kind of wasn't worried about threats at all. She wasn't sure if that was an indication of her own mental state, or if it was just a result of whatever had lured the not-quite-entirely-human girl deeper into the woods.
The woman turned toward the side door, and Gwen watched her with exceptionally curious seafoam eyes. She considered the domicile, considered potential exits, considered threats that might be located within. Ultimately, she just clutched the messenger bag across her middle more securely, and she followed the path the older woman had taken.
She moved kind of slowly, mentally attempting to classify all the plants she passed along the way, and she stopped in the doorway and scuffed her Keds clean. She was accustomed to a super austere and clean science lab. Even Gwen's own tiny apartment was devoid of clutter or greenery, and this place felt different and alive. It reminded her a little of her orchard, and Gwen carried the scent of dying apples and early-crunching leaves in on her skin and hair. "I don't know how I found you," she said honestly. She'd walked these woods so many times, but she'd never come this way, and she hadn't been deliberately looking for a house to take shelter in. "I'm totally not creepily stalking you," she assured the old woman.
Gwen had never met someone old before, and maybe she stared a little longer than was polite, but she was unaware of her social faux pas. "I'm Gwen." She shoved out a hand in a standard greeting (though sometimes people didn't want to shake hands, and that always confused her).
