Re: log: cat/eddie at the carnival
Cat had a thing about clowns. She didn't like them, and could anyone really blame her? She associated them with egomanics that leaned heavily toward the homicidal. She knew Eddie liked cracked eggs, and he'd always been unique that way, but clowns made Cat squirm more that crocs in sewers. But, then, everyone had their own brand of underdogs. For Cat, it was working girls. For Eddie, it was misunderstood criminals, and the clowns fit the bill. And, well, Cat didn't like the clowns, but she was very glad to have Eddie back, 404 errors absent, so she actually didn't mind the scene she walked up on. It was strange enough to remind her of home, of dank alleys, of villains that most sane people wouldn't even believe existed. Alright, maybe there was a bit of homecoming in the walk from the truck to where Eddie was, dressed all in green and that book in his lap.
Cat, she didn't mind it even a little. "You look like home." Quietly.
He lifted a finger, and Cat quirked a brow. Jeans and a black undershirt, she wasn't in any hurry to start killing flowers. She'd had a migraine brewing all day, and she knew it was probably a reaction to the toxins, but Cat took a lot of exposure to be dragged into any kind of undertow. Thanks, Russia, and she moved when Eddie waved her toward the edges of the tents and caravans.
But, ah, Sasha, of course, and she walked beside the man dressed in emerald, and she listened as she took the lighter between her fingers. Her fingertips caressed the Wainright crest thoughtlessly, and she had to agree about burning things. It wasn't usually her thing, but perhaps tonight was a night made for exceptions. "I looked up the man she was talking to. Near as I can tell? He's the new Quiet Home doctor. Creepy. Jude, Sasha's estranged friend, messaged me concerned for her. I asked Damian to go sit with her." She assumed Damian had done as she asked. "I'm hoping this is just the flowers. Do you think it's something more?" She trampled flowers underfoot, and she forgot to flambe them.
