[The warm water was appreciated, though May felt like she'd shivered away decades under the cold spray. The balance in her body felt wrong, air ripped away and replaced, too much water around her. But everything needed to be gone before she could turn it off again.
She wasn't up to smiling, but Jeze's words helped to lighten her at least a little bit. The hand along her spine was barely familiar, but she accepted the pressure of it. Enough that when Jeze pulled away, May caught her fingers for just a moment as she looked up. She didn't say anything else, and she looked older and more drawn than she had in a very long time. But she held the other woman's gaze for a moment before letting her go.
No words, no thanks, just another shiver under the shower's spray.]
