Re: [log: antique store - daniel/claire/louis]
Claire was familiar with trickery and she did not put it past the creature to mimic a gentle nature in order to get what it wanted. There was no way to tell who was talking about wanting to stay in their body. So she listened, she nodded, she took the words into account, and considered them coming from either being. If one heard what Louis said coming from the other creature, there would be no relaxing. At this point, she could not agree. She knew what needed to be done, she knew the outcome that was most desired by all parties, that was good enough.
With her theory, Claire was even wary of Daniel. It was possible that he was already infected (for lack of a better term) and his orders took her aback as much as if they had physically slapped her. "I need to go pray," was all she answered to Daniel, a hint of ice cold embracing every syllable. There were quite a few harsh retorts that flew through her mind concerning hypocrisy and how without help they would never learn more and how he knew nothing. She didn't say them, no matter how cranky and strained she felt, but she wanted to which was just as bad.
"I will be in touch soon, Louis." Claire gathered her coat from the chair and gave him a departing nod. She spun on her heel towards the door to bring her downstairs, her steps a disciplined march to take her from this place before she actually did change her mind about using her spear.
But as soon as she left the antique store, she pulled her phone out of her pocket and texted Daniel. Claire couldn't be certain if he would get it, or if he would even heed the warning given his current love affair with that bottle, but she had to try and felt it was too dangerous to discuss in front of Louis. 'The acolytes and preacher in the Capital said their shared faith is spread skin to skin and blood to blood. Be careful. Stay aware.' And with that, she turned her phone off and let the fresh night air clear her thoughts with every purposeful step she took towards the pond.
