Re: [log: antique store - daniel/claire/louis]
Want was Daniel's way to madness, and well he knew it. He could become something like this thing, which barely thought, and only hungered (though their appetites varied). He closed his lips over his teeth and stood still, ever more light as the greats of this world grew ever larger. Daniel's power was all in himself, in the ability of his bones and his teeth, and despite his age he had no particular presence or power except in the gift of taste and blood. There was little he could bring to this fight but his anger.
What could be said, however, was that he was not impressed with either personage. As big as they were, all beings of power came to an end someday. Even war and hunger eventually ended. Daniel's kind was long-lived, and traced a history back to the dawn of humanity, but even they must end eventually.
"If you don't like him, leave him," Daniel said, obviously not putting that much thought into the suggestion. "We're never going to leave you be. I have nothing but free time." He smiled his toothy smile, obviously hardly caring at the suggestion this thing could do anything to help him. Daniel was always under the impression that he needed nothing from anyone.
