Re: Gwen + Felicity: Going out
Gwen believed every single aspect of human existence was universal. Human beings were totally created from the same stuff as the universe, and everything in nature followed a plan, a pattern, and that included people. There was a lot of stuff that wasn't understood yet and (like any good scientist) Gwen loved the questions. If everything made sense, then the world would be totally boring. Feelings, Gwen believed, were no different than anything else in the universe, even if hers totally didn't make logical sense at present.
But Felicity was being super insistent that she (Felicity) and Perry hadn't dated, and Gwen was coming up with more questions (and literally no answers at all). Secrecy was the kind of thing that made the gears in Gwen's mind go kind of nuts (hypothetical, because brains didn't have gears or nuts). It made her want to understand, and she didn't understand at all. She gave Felicity a super curious look in lined seafoam, but she let it go for now.
Correcting the error about the car was quick. "I don't know how to drive. I think the rules of internal combustion are kind of cool." Which wasn't a lie, and the donor had a chauffeur until her dad died, and then there was mostly the subway and webs, so the part about not driving wasn't a lie either. Gwen couldn't lie very well, so it was always better for her not to. The truth would've probably been expanded upon, but Felicity flinched, and Gwen caught the small twitch with attentive gaze. "Who said you were frigid?" That was the question posed at the end of Felicity's vehement defense.
The question about MJ was harder, especially since Gwen was prone to just responding honestly, and this conversation was kind of an obstacle course. In the end, Gwen just said the truth about the theatricality at the lake. "I think you're right about the timing of the encounter between MJ and Jason, but I think MJ has a super lot of love to give, and I really hope things work out for her."
