Re: Eddie's House: May / Eddie
His reaction, the slight choke of liquid going down the wrong way, made May smile. And of course he'd guess Irish - it sounded close, to a more modern ear - but she shook her head. "Nah. Y' want Irish, y' go see Jeze, harpy that she is. We were well w'thin th' King's own realm." Details she doled out like a miser finding generosity - one here, one there. This one... she was well aware that there hadn't been a king on the throne in England for decades. But she also didn't indicate which king.
She leaned back in her chair, cup held close to her chest like it contained her secrets. She still smiled, though there was something tempered to it. Also tempered in her next words was her accent, settling somewhere between what she'd made it and the way she usually sounded. "I needed somewhere differen'. My family was gone, people were changing..." And as for the woods swallowing someone whole, she hummed an agreement. "They could. Not as much as the old ones, though." And a sharper look at him. "When you hear those things, stay inside. There's no reason for you t' taunt them."
