His slight of hand was fast, a reflex that was as much him as his heart beat. "I'll do a better trick for you one day. That's just the warm up." Eddie said and his tone was calm. More sure of himself and less trying to impress. She could see how his performer personality weaved in and out of him like a cross stitch. It wasn't completely a mask or a curtain to hide behind. Little things like flowers out of thin air were completely him. Edison, the clever thief from New Jersey who was charming enough he didn't have to pick-pocket.
"Next time you see the show with the spotlight on me wearing a suit made by an Italian man, think about how out here makes you feel. Tell me if it seems all that different." He wondered if there was something more, something witchy that did change things. Still, the emotion behind it. The love? She'd see what he meant. Eddie loved being the carnival king and the connection he had to his craft was the same as digging his fingers into soil.
