Re: Eddie's House: May / Eddie
The flat expression didn't budge for the moment. "Oh. Alright. Ye of temporal relativity." The words sounded strange coming from her, especially with her hands dirt-covered up past the knobs of her wrists. "But don't insult the worms. Nothing would grow well without them."
"You really do think it's magic?" An eyebrow went up as she gave a low laugh, back around to skepticism. "It's just fertilizer. A little nitrogen, a little phosphate. Some sand for better drainage." And if there maybe was more to it (there was - just a little), she wasn't confessing to anything. And she wasn't flirting. Not consciously. But hands-in-dirt always made her more open, friendlier, smiling like the sun was rising behind her and the earth itself was giving her life. It was hard not to glow just a little and spread that around. The fact that Eddie smiled back at her only kept her from dimming that glow for the moment.
As he pushed the dirt in, she made sure it spread evenly around the roots, tamping down a bit in areas to make certain that things were covered - that the earth would hold the plant. She smiled down at leaves and stems and petals as they worked, glad to see that the plan looked like it had found a good home. Hopefully it wouldn't be too much of a shock coming from her garden to the side of Eddie's house.
Beeping glasses were far outside of her comfort zone, and she leaned away from him just a bit as they gave that chime. Incredulous for a few seconds, her expression clearly questioning what that had been. She got her answer almost immediately, and relaxed again. And nodded as Eddie moved away. Another second to make certain the plant was set, she started to at the side of the house, searching for a hose or even a spigot. She was almost a little surprised when she found one, but rinsed her hands off briefly. Just enough to get the large amounts of soil off, not to get them spotless. There was still dirt under her nails and in the deeper creases of her palms. Drying them on her pants (smudge and smear of handprints at her thighs), she settled into one of the outdoor chairs to wait.
