Re: Eddie's House: May / Eddie
Eddie couldn't help but find himself charmed by the way she dressed. It wasn't the movie theater version of natural beauty with perfectly fitted designer jeans and styled hair to appear messy. No, those were definitely clogs. Just as he was about to make some wise crack, she shook his head at him and he balked at her. He touched his fingers to his chest as if to say me?, though the expression on his face was playful and not a bit combative. He knew if he really wanted to, he could put the entire town to shame with his sense of style.
The coffee thing, though, that threw him off.
"No?" He was half up off the porch when he registered her answer and then shook his head, not understanding. "Tea? I bet I've got something you've never had before." Eddie thought a challenge might change her mind. He swept his hat off and held it between his hands, worrying the brim with his thumbs like a beggar who was asking for coins instead of offering tea.
"Oh, no. She's only on duty while I'm in the work shed or trying to sleep. Luckily, we haven't had any incidents for a couple months. Go team." Eddie spoke fast, New Jersey fast, and perhaps he was afraid she'd suss out why those places in particular and decide to stop leaving him pretty flowers. Plus, he liked that May knew anything about service dogs in the first place since Eddie didn't see any around town. All he found were old ladies that somehow talked the owner into letting them bring their weird looking scruffy dogs into diners. The point was, Eddie found himself trying to impress May, which was a weird sensation. Nice, since Eddie didn't care about impressing anyone except his customers, but weird.
"What do you mean you aren't doing this for me!" He said in fake outrage. "Do you know who I am! What I do! What I own! I'll tell the mayor! The Fishing Club! The Christian Club! Which, incidentally, is called the Fish Club but for different reasons." He grinned, raising his finger in the air and then taking off his robe as if to say yes of course I'll do the work. "Actually, scratch that. The Christians in this town are scaring me a little. Have you seen?"
