[Eddie was pretending to be knee-deep in a book about monster hunting in space, but he was listening very closely to the comings and goings of the small town bookstore. He knew she was there before she turned the corner and yet he took a couple seconds before looking up at her. His smile was polite and wary, which was the best he could do all things considered. He found it hard to even look at her. Like squinting at a bright light.
He couldn't remember a time she looked so human. Like she had just gotten over the flu or had a long night of worrying. Her hair was the same. So, that was something. He put the book down and crossed his arms, leaning on the nearby bookcase. His dark eyes settled on her for a moment before he looked down at his feet.] This is weird. [He murmured and shook his head.] You know I fantasized about seeing you again and never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined it like this.
