log: eddie/steph -- carnival.
[Eddie was in the middle of a flurry. Beautiful, laced fabric was stretched, considered and then rushed off. Women were being measured in long, old fashioned underwear and seamstresses were clucking with needles between their lips. Eddie himself was dressed in a striped suit with a straw hat and was looking very vaudeville. He had a cane that he would poke people with from his perch on a stage where acrobats did running leaps and twists in the air as warm ups. Clowns were working on set pieces, some completely covered in paint and grinning as they chased each other with brushes. It was a scene of anarchy and chaos in the most beautiful way possible. Where messes could be turned into art and problems could be fixed by looking at the world differently.
Eddie smiled when Stephanie approached and then awkwardly pulled his collar at her comment. The dancers were young and trusted him, so any notion that this was a fantasy of his felt wrong. This was supposed to be the safest place in Repose for people without families, after all.] Hah-hah! [He quickly put on a smile, recovering with the typical ringmaster grace he had become increasingly good at.] Well, the girls wanted to do something old fashioned so it's Edwardian-ish show.
[Eddie reached for the drink and took a sip, not minding it being cold in the hot weather.] It's good this way. Scalding hot would be awful in this heat. Come on, I'll show you some of the stuff we have so far. [He hopped off the stage, took a moment to speak with the girls and then gestured across the lawn towards one of the other tents.]
The really wonderful thing about not bothering with historical accuracy of a time period is that we can play around with the costumes. If we had a full on Edwardian era, the girls would be too hot for performing and frankly too covered for the audience's taste. [Eddie explained, twirling the cane as they walked.] We can go with more billowing designs and even add some sparkle and color. We're going to do an entire Pride and Prejudice and Zombies performance and it's going to blow some minds.
