Re: log: flash/felicity mission
She had gone to the gym back in the city. Enough times that she knew what falling hard felt like and the way her arms ached after enough time standing in front of a bag hitting it until the guy running the class was satisfied. It had been grody, and it stank of old sweat and stale musk but it was barely enough to stay alive a hot second when crystal monsters burst out of the goddamn walls.
She didn't shriek. She almost, and she watched Reaper glide seamlessly from ooze to something bigger, slicker, sleeker that bristled danger. And for a split-second, she got to admire the fact that whoever Flash was, the Reaper thing, creepy as ever, was totally bad-ass.
But her mom had crystal little animals riding her mantlepiece at home. An elephant and a little bear and a fish with its tail flicked into the air. They were expensive, and her father bought them Christmas and birthdays, wrapped in tissue paper. She'd played with them when she had been little enough, until she dropped one and it smashed, split into splinters on the floor that couldn't be pieced back together.
Crystal. Smash.
She ducked under the flail of an arm, and beyond the reach of Reaper riding his back. She ducked, low, body-weight swinging toward the ground and she sort of hoped the luck thing? Would kick in as she threw a leg out low for the monster to topple. Her foot hit whatever the hell passed for a knee in there, and he swayed and Felicity just hoped crystal that big smashed the same way the little bear on the mantle had split apart.
