Hey, if they're actually your friends, they know how guilty you feel about it. I'm not saying go have like a major heart to heart, I'm saying try something small. Like, just talk to the guy like a person. Sounds like he's been through some shit.
Things suck pretty hard in the city where I grew up if you don't have a lot of cash to throw around. [...] It's cheesy. But I was trying to make things safer for ordinary people who didn't deserve to live like animals.
You don't mind my saying so - and take this from somebody who knows - you have a pretty tragic take on yourself. It makes it easier sometimes, looking at your life as this big movie where you're going to get the sad ending with the long speech. Sometimes getting out from under something takes living like that's not going to happen, even if it feels like it will. Maybe you don't need to travel around the world. Maybe you need to talk to those friends you keep mentioning. Might be a start.
