Re: [In-person: PJ and Atticus]
[PJ didn't expect Matt, at least not until and unless things went haywire, so when she smelled him before she heard his knock she was surprised by it. He wasn't unwelcome, quite the contrary, she was glad he was there if not a bit embarrassed by the whole thing.
He seemed uncomfortable, which she attributed to the situation of putting her in a cage, and didn't blame him for it, it was weird. So she let him do what he would while she turned on the faucet and filled up the water bucket. She took the blanket from him, it was thoughtful. And appreciated.] You cut your hair. [Both a statement that it was shorter and that he, himself, had cut it.] I cut my own hair too. [Not with a razor, but she did her own hair trims, and given that her hair was just long, long, long, and thick. It wasn't a fancy or difficult cut at all.
She nodded when he produced the tranquilizers. Again, she hadn't been thinking about the pain as much as she'd been thinking about the nuisance she might turn into, so she appreciated the thoughtfulness of her two companions for the evening as it seemed that they were all in it for the long haul. She didn't know how to thank people for things she wasn't sure they should have to do. So instead she sat when she was told to sit. She could, at the very least, be compliant.
Then he produced the stuffed wolf she'd sent him and a smiled spread across her face and she reached for it with her good arm and gave it a good squeeze and held it close to her chest. It was good that he'd had it for a bit, it had a familiar enough scent. It was a scent of help previously given.] I promise you'll get it back.
[She nodded toward the venison wrapped in paper that Atticus had brought.] Venison, still frozen, I didn't think thawing it would be useful I'm kind of a chewer and it might help to keep busy. But if there is a lot of pain and feeling bad then she might not be interested in food or chewing. There's more in the freezer if you want to try thawing some out later. I told Atticus, I've got basically a whole deer in there. [She took a deep breath.] I've never locked her up before, sometimes she listens to me, sometimes she's just all her. She and I are still trying to find our way without our pack.
