He was nodding even as she was still talking, that smile still on his face. Someone had taught him to be polite, and along with all his other schooling, that lesson stuck. Maybe sometimes there was a little too much tease and humor there, but never malicious and always with the hopes that the other person would be smiling too.
"So far so good. Nothing's jumped out at me from the corners, at least." He glanced around the store, like he was giving it a close assessment. "And I think I can manage my way around a grocery store." He wasn't planning to stock every corner of his fridge and cabinets quite yet, at least. A few things to get him through the first couple days. Basics. He could manage basics. He could. If nothing else, he'd make some soup. Not out of the can, either. Real soup was one thing he could do in the kitchen.
