Re: [Sharon and Cat having a drink or ten]
Cat didn't necessarily trust files. Her own? Was a mess, and she knew she would have a hell of a time finding Matt's, despite numerous promises to do just that. "Well, as far as I know? This new team? Is the only enhanced team on the books right now. I could be out of the loop. It wouldn't be the first time."
Cat listened, glass forgotten at her fingertips and the throbbing in her thigh barely registering. Details were important, and Cat had spent enough time as a spy that she knew to listen. What Sharon remembered? That was crucial, and whether Sharon could see the truth in any of it? It didn't matter all that much. Maybe Sharon had been unstable, and maybe she hadn't. That answer could vary wildly, and it all depended on what the children were. After all, using enhanced assets who willingly signed up? That was one thing, and it was the only thing in the team she was joining. But locking children up? Forcing them to work for the government down the line? That was too dirty for Cat's taste.
"Finding him? Seems to be a good starting point. Finding out if he's alive, and if he's even what you thought he was, that is a start." Cat rubbed her temple, and she thought. "I can ask if you'd be eligible. If they say no? Well, then maybe it tells us something. If it goes that way, I have some friends that might be able to help you off the books. I'll need to talk to them first, but they're good guys, if a little anti-government." She picked her drink up, and she drank down what remained in the glass. "Want me to move forward?"
