Re: [Out: Gwen & Felicity]
If asked about everyone ending up in the same place at the same time, Gwen would rattle off percentages and probability of coincidence. She would try to find a logical explanation for coincidence, though more and more the logical explanation for coincidence in Repose was totally illogical. But science was totally considered magic once, and Gwen reasoned that coincidence might have a scientific founding someday. She wouldn't say that everyone ending up together was deliberate. In fact, she kind of thought it was the opposite. Perry wanted to do his own thing, and MJ had been running away, and Flash had been in a military-induced sleep. Harry arriving here she did consider as possibly deliberate, but only because Harry and MJ kind of circled each other in this super weird and planetary way. But Gwen, like her predecessor, totally thought the culmination of this youthful romance cluster involved MJ and Perry getting together (even if she wouldn't ever tell Flash that).
"I've been here about six months." Gwen could've given her the date, minute, second of her arrival at Area-52, but she'd learned that being super specific made her sound totally robotic, so she refrained. Instead, she focused on Felicity's statement that something personal came up, and Gwen figured it was a super big kind of personal to not know the donor had died in a completely weird fashion that still had people speculating about why one of the Spider's villains would totally devour her. "I hope it wasn't anything bad," she said of the personal occurrence. She knew the rumors about Felicity's love life, and she thought it totally explained MJ's dislike of the other girl. Being jealous, Gwen realized, was a major thing for young adults.
Felicity explained away any possible relationship with Harry, and Gwen totally didn't press. Gwen had dated Harry early, before MJ (kind of unknowingly during MJ). She knew what Harry Ryan was like in a relationship, and it was the kind of guy she had no interest in getting tangled up with. Somehow, he seemed to make even really smart girls forget logic, and that was somewhat interesting and somewhat scary to the girl who'd never seen him in person.
"It's an interesting town," she said of Repose. She hadn't known Felicity had family out here, but it wasn't the kind of thing discussed in New York. Repose was like the end of the world in Midtown, and Gwen looked around as she made the comment. "You might consider it super slow, but it's interesting if you like mysteries," she explained, and then she pointed back toward the direction she'd come. "I live above the flower shop, just past the cemeteries. Flash and Perry are over there now, at MJ's place. She lives across the hall. Oh, and Jason's here too," she added, remembering that Felicity knew him from his tendency to hang around the dorm. "Where are you and Harry staying?"
