Re: [B&B: Nimue and Connie]
[Nimue said ENTER and Connie turned to look at the picture. She had her fair share of attempts to jump back in time, but her powers just never worked that way before. Maybe she didn't try hard enough, maybe she didn't actually want to see what things she could change. But now she was given the opportunity to help this girl jump them back to meet another time traveler, her dad and Connie's slacker shroud fell away and vanished into the ether.] Different. Just- he'll make things different.
[Real helpful, right?
Connie imagined that manipulating time felt like riding a wave. She had never gone to Hawaii, but she watched enough old surfing movies to know what riding that big blue must have felt like. It was about balance, about accepting things were a lot bigger than you and sometimes it was good to be small.
Her eyes continued to bleed blue and yellow and her face turned monstrous. Not just skeletal, but almost like deep down she was some kind of hellacious monster waiting to break free from her flesh and bones. Time travel fucked people up. Maybe not this Nimue girl, not now, but eventually it'd fuck her up, too.
Connie's face went back to normal. She smiled and winked.
With a woosh of waves, they landed in a high school gymnasium frozen still. Children with projects, teachers with clipboards and parents with proud smiles on their faces. All standing still like they were waiting for the curtain to fly open.] Keep holding my hand, kid. [Connie let go of their handshake and offered her other hand, to lace their fingers together.
Time restarted suddenly and no one seemed to notice or care that Connie and Nimue had been dropped there. Things seemed normal, for now. Her father was a few booths away and he looked around like a bee just flew into his bonnet.] Uhm, shit. Okay. We can't let him see us yet, find a place to hide?
